Masterclass: How to upload videos and blog entries
Hello and welcome back to the Everything XOTV masterclass series. Today we are going to outline the process to upload videos and blogs.
From your channel page, go ahead and click on the “video” heading.
From here, you’ll click “upload video” in the upper right corner.
Here, you will be uploading your video, but this won’t publish it. Choose your file and hit “upload.” This part can take a few minutes, depending on your video.
I like to use this time to write the description that I’ll be posting with my video in a separate word processor so I can copy and paste it into the “description” text box later.
Once your video has finished uploading, it will take another few minutes to process. I also refer to this time as “snack break” and grab a quick bite before heading into adding the details of the video.
Your video will show up under the “Videos” tab when it has finished processing and will be labeled “Untitled Video.” Click on the “Edit” button under the title and get to work!
Now you will have the options to add the title of the video and paste in that handy description you wrote up earlier. You’ll also be able to change the thumbnail for the video by clicking “Edit Thumbnail.” You will have the option to choose one of the thumbnails the platform picked out, or upload your own.
Pro tip! If your video is only available at XOTV, you can add one of our handy “XOriginal” banners to your thumbnail so your audience knows how special this video is!
The last steps are easy: Choose if your viewers will need to be subscribers or pay a one-time fee for the video, and then change the status to “Published.” Once you're sure you're ready for the video to see the world, click "Update Video."
Boom! You did it!
Blog uploads are easy once you have your actual post written! Start by clicking on the “Blog” heading to begin.
From here, you will click “Create Blog Entry.”
Now you’ll be faced with a few text boxes. The first, “Title,” is the title of your blog. The second, “Excerpt,” is the text that will show up below the title when the post is advertised. The third box, “Content,” is where your actual blog post will go.
In the actual blog editor, you have the option to add links, photos, lists, and emphasize your text.
Once you have finished writing and editing your post, you will scroll down to the last few options. All you need to do here is choose if your viewers will need to be subscribers or pay a one-time fee for the post, and then change the status to “Published.” Before exiting, click "Create Entry" to make it available to the public!
