This homemade seasoned chicken will kickstart your taste buds and send them on a culinary rollercoaster they will never forget.

To make it a complete meal, we threw in the beans and rice that on their own could probably satisfy the cravings of your family.

This recipe does take a little planning though. The chicken is best after sitting in a jerk bath all night, and the bay leaves, which provide crucial smoke, also need to soak overnight. The bay leaves also add an aroma to the cook that, if you close your eyes and stand in your kids sandbox, makes you feel like your on the shores of Montego Bay.

Once those are ready to go, it will take about 1.5 hours from start to finish on grill day. The beans will take longest to tenderize, so be sure to start simmering those first. Once those get going, fire up the grill if it’s not going already and add on a grill grate if you have one (helps prevent flare ups).

Add the rice to the beans and put the chicken on the grill at about the same time so they coordinate their finish. Put it all together and you got yourself one jammin’ meal!
