“Let’s Get Away” was intended as a combination talk/game show played with passengers on cruise ships around the world. I was to be the show’s host along with two singers, Eileen Smith and Gary LeMel… featured with the ship’s live band. The pilot, shot in the Caribbean on board the Holland-America Lines S.S. Statendam, 1965, cost over $500,000….an immense pilot budget for its time. The show didn’t test well with focus groups…causing NBC to abandon the concept, but I thought you might find it interesting!
