In this episode of WhitewaterTV, we feature the free National American Adventure Sports Club, a collaboration between WhitewaterTV on XOTV and the National 501(c)(3) organization–Vibe Tribe Adventures.

In the United States, the outdoor industry has talked for more than ten years about the lack of diversity in outdoor recreation. Yet, how many people of color with decision-making authority are at the table? Why have repeated requests for meetings and interviews went unanswered? In short, the answer is fear. The fear of saying or doing the wrong thing, being labeled as “not doing enough,” the fear of “turning Black Lives Matter into black lives marketing,” and the fear of cancel culture is palpable.

Meanwhile, there are courageous and forward-thinking industry association members like the America Outdoors Association, and businesses like Kokatat, Inc., Immersion Research, Badfish SUP, Werner Paddles, NRS Web, Watershed Drybags, Liquidlogic Kayaks, OARS, Design Build Colorado, and non-profit organizations like Rivers for Change, ARTA River Trips, AzRA Raft Adventures, the Great Falls Foundation, the Might Arrow Family Foundation, Team River Runner, Idaho Rivers United, and more. Who in 2020 through 2021 made a meaningful contribution to diversifying the outdoors.

Together, we can ensure that every American has an opportunity to get outdoors safely, respectfully, and with a heart toward conservation– protecting our natural resources.

The American Adventure Sports Club’s (AASC) mission is Free adventure sports training, mentorship, entrepreneurship, adventures, and more for all Americans, centering on the most vulnerable.

~ Hiking ~ Archery ~ Paddlesports (kayaking, rafting, canoeing, stand up paddle) ~ Fishing ~ Swimming ~ Backcountry and water safety ~ Leave no trace principles ~ Land and water equity + conservation education ~ Creating a career in outdoor recreation as an entrepreneur, employee, guide, brand ambassador, or competitive or professional athlete.  

The AASC creates chapters throughout the United States, beginning with Loveland, Colorado. New chapters will crisscross the U.S., centering on urban and rural locations initially.

Free membership, including the needed gear, apparel, and equipment, is extended to any youth or adult accepted into the program through an application process on a first-come-first-served basis.  

Vibe Tribe currently supports more than 1,200 members–youth and adults throughout the U.S.  

Our 2022 Highlights so far: 1 - American Adventure Sports Chapter Opening–Loveland, Colorado

2 - Approximately 12 - 24 youth of color ages 16 - 18 participate in free raft guide training. Job offers are available upon completion for some.

3 - Approximately 12 - 24 adults from formerly marginalized communities participate in free raft guide training. Job offers are available upon completion.   *********************
