“Though the Toxaway is very close to where I live, I’d always driven past it in favor of other Jocassee-area runs that are slightly more manageable. I’d run several other of the “big name” rivers in Western North Carolina, like the Linville Gorge and the Raven Fork, but still wasn’t sure I was Toxaway-worthy yet. But a fall lake drawdown provided predictable flows, so I gathered a trustworthy group, and we headed out there. Though my lines weren’t all clean—as is evident from this video, the day was great for the whole crew. I even headed back in just a few days later to get a redemption run on Energizer.”
SOMETIMES THE MAGIC IS IN HOW WE HANDLE AN iMPERFECT LINE! The lowercase “i” is intentional because perfection is an illusion.
