Become an Independent Angler in One Season--Fishing Etiquette and More

Welcome to the river family!

In this first episode of the “How to Become an Independent Angler in One Season” series on WhitewaterTV, we teach you: - How to respectfully develop your land acknowledgment practice - Leave no trace principles + Backcountry Etiquette - Fishing culture - New angler tips - And more

The benefits of outdoor recreation are physical, mental, and social. Yet jumping into a bright-colored boat and paddling into a rapid like I do when I’m kayaking or stand up paddle boarding isn’t a sport for everyone. So, I thought I’d introduce you to another one of my many outdoor recreation passions, fishing.

Growing up during the Great Depression, my parents instilled in me a sense of self-sufficiency and the thought that systems may break down, so you must be prepared to take care of yourself. And throughout my life, I’ve used the skills my family and the military taught me. Unfortunately, the art of self-sufficiency is becoming a lost skill, but I’d like to help you become more self-reliant and get outdoors for fishing adventures.
