Jontavious Willis - Blues Center Interview #1 Remastered

Description

Blues phenom Jontavious Willis in the remastered BCI#1, talking and playing his very old school blues style. He talks about pre-war country blues greats like J. T. Funny Paper Smith and the Memphis Jug Band and their connections to superstitions (get me a mojo hand). He also discusses working with and learning from Taj Mahal. Footage includes clips from NYC 2017 and New Orleans 2016. We also discuss Champion Jack Dupree’s “Junker’s Blues” which became a hit as “The Fat Man” for Fats Domino in late 1948 marking a transition from blues to R&B.
