ESJ welcomes NASA Scientist and Environmental Justice Leader, Dr. Farouk El-Baz!


Farouk is an Egyptian Space Scientist and Geologist who was the first person to map the moon, chose lunar landing sites, worked on Mars missions, developed satellite technology for remote sensing in order to find water in deserts, had a transporter named after him on Star Trek: TNG and was featured in the TV Series “From the Earth to the Moon” by Tom Hanks. To list all of Farouk’s accomplishments would be nearly impossible

He has been an avid promoter of environmental conservation and social equity, being the first person to teach me about solar energy in the 90’s and how be believes women are fearless learners and leaders. No Shaming, No Blaming and Every Little Bit Helps.
